UGLIEBOY breaks new ground on single LIP SERVICE
Up-and-coming Naarm/Melbourne alt-rock trio UGLIEBOY have just dropped LIP SERVICE - the first single off their upcoming sophomore EP. Give it a listen here.
Formed in 2024, UGLIEBOY is a three-piece rock outfit mixing elements of alt-rock, trip-hop and electronic music.
Members Oakley Boyd (vocals, synth), Gabe Murdoch (guitar, bass) and Ari Danaher-Flavell (drums). Sounding like an ethereal blend of Massive Attack and Deftones on a dark day, the band has carved out a unique sonic signiture in Australia’s alternative scene.
After a busy 2025 - including the release of their debut EP LOSING CONTROL - UGLIEBOY are all set to take on the big leagues.
The first track off their upcoming EP, LIP SERVICE teases a shady blend of influences. A groovy trip-hop stunner, the single is three and a half minutes of dark, melodic alt-rock.

A distinct stuttering drum fill acts as the hook of the song, while soaring noisy synths fill the stereo field. Boyd’s dynamic vocals contrast between almost whispered tones on the verses and full chest voice on choruses.
Equal parts unique rock and hip hop aesthetics blended with ambient sound design, the brilliance of the band’s taste is on full display in the production and musicianship.
