Introducing Frons - It’s the sound of three and a groovy sound, as you’ll see.

Frons, from Naarm/Melbourne, have a sound that is tight, sharp and crackling (kind of like when you bite down on a mint Life Savers in the dark and they spark). If you haven’t yet seen them live, this track is a perfect introduction to their sound.

Check out their new single Civil Twilight here.

Opening with jolting stabs of guitar, the song rolls into a bouncing groove with snappy drums, pulsing bass and seasick-warbling guitar. Instrumental, it is sparse but fills out as a full sonic whole, a single unit of sound; binding together, but with a distinct approach from each.

The lyrics, I must admit, are somewhat obscure. But don’t read that as a criticism, no. That only makes them more intriguing. My feeling is ‘don’t sing if you don’t mean it’, and there is meaning and feeling in these words.

This track is a perfect encapsulation of the sound of Frons; twisting rhythms, tone and words into a singular organism of sound and mood. If there’s an indication of what to expect from further releases, based on this track, then I’m stoked, and you will be too. So, go have a listen, and get into the groove of Frons.

Civil Twilight is available now on Bandcamp to stream and download.
