Stray Dogs To Good Homes, Favoured State - Midweek Crisis strikes again at The Last Chance
At Melbourne’s premier rock n’ roll bar The Last Chance punters are treated to a free gig every Wednesday with Midweek Crisis. With $8 pints, $12 steaks and the best in local live music. This week two of Naarm/Melbourne’s up and comers Stray Dogs To Good Homes and Favoured State blasted through two short but sweet sets, packed with killer tracks.
First up were Favoured State. Fresh from an interstate tour off the back of their great debut EP It’s A Mess, the band sounded like a mix of These New South Wales, Black Midi and Licetrays. Fast punk rock, with dissonant guitars, heavily delayed vocals and tight grooves - classic recipe with an elevated twist.
Playing mostly tracks from the new EP along with a couple of unreleased tracks, the set was brisk and powerful, short and sweet,
Highlights from the setlist included Look Who’s Talking, It’s A Mess and closer I’ll Finish It, the latter making for a high energy anthemic finale.

Made up of members of Dial Up Modem, The Antics, Billiam and Clit Split (and likely many more) Stray Dogs To Good Homes is yet another mad egg-punk supergroup to come out of Naarm’s punk rock scene.
With speedy drums and dirty synths, Stray Dogs played a set of entirely unreleased tracks, which are allegedly nearing recording completion.
You’ve heard the best, now get ready for the rest Singers Elliot Rider and Flynn Varley swapped bass and guitar along with vocal duties, allowing for a varying and impressive range.
Favourite tracks included Elliot’s Self Defence, along with Face Down, No Can Do and final track Grid City.
Keep your eyes and ears open for more from these hounds, as whatever they’re cooking smells great.
Make sure to check out Last Chance’s Midweek Crisis series of free gigs every Wednesday. A great place to meet like minded rockers and see some great music, LC never lets us down.
