The Halves hold it down on new single Trackstar
Naarm/Melbourne based band The Halves are back with a rocking new single in Trackstar - a three-minute lesson in essential post-punk.
Originating in Meanjin/Brisbane, The Halves are your classic fusion of melodic guitar and driving rhythms, mixing influences of Aussie staples and UK legends - a rock solid post-punk formula.
From this palette, the band have nailed down their own brand with distinct choices in texture and depth.
Hot off the tail of last year’s self-titled EP, the four-piece is gearing up for another release and has blessed listeners with it’s first single Trackstar.

The post-punk rocker is a tight, breezy track. Following a protagonist attempting to outrun their issues both physical and personal, the tune tells a wild tale of survival and reflection.
Guitar stabs reminiscent of Television and Interpol come and go as a steady rhythm section maintains pace throughout, leaving plenty of room for the fast-talking double entendre filled vocals. Start to finish the song is a sprint - a listening experience that lives up to it’s title.
I’m extremely excited to hear what The Halves have planned next.
