You need to see BIGFOOT: In Plain Sight

Returning after last year’s brilliant The John Wilkes Booth, Melbourne’s comedy theatre weirdos Handful of Bugs are back with another stroke of genius - Bigfoot: In Plain Sight. Running from April 8-20 at the Malthouse Theatre in Melbourne, the one-man-show is like nothing I’ve seen before.

Birthed from the tortured minds of Alex Donnelly and Lachlan Gough, the show is a one man gig featuring Donnelly as the son of a Canadian explorer searching for answers in his past and future, along with a certain mythical creature of unknown allegiance.

Directed by Gough, the tale is an oddity - complete with bizarre moments of meta humour, soundscapes and hilarious cues. Redefining what a one-man-show can and should mean, this is a new approach to theatre that must be studied.

The details of the story are better left unsaid, as it must be seen in person to be truly believed - along with some truly unexpected turns, but this writer struggled to breath for a great deal of the show due to laughter and at times fear of what could come next.

Make sure you catch Handful of BugsBigfoot: In Plain Sight at the Malthouse Theatre. It’s running almost every night until April 20th, and will go down as one of the best shows of this years Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

You’d be a fool to miss Bigfoot.
